American Dance Festival's Children’s Matinee at Duke: Mark Morris Dance Group and Music Ensemble ⭐️

American Dance Festival's Mark Morris performance with live music—55 minutes of kid-friendly contemporary dance.

The Mark Morris Dance Group brings a specially designed matinee performance to Duke this summer, featuring three pieces—Pizzica, Three Preludes, and Going Away Party—accompanied by live musicians. The show runs 55 minutes without an intermission, making it a focused experience perfect for younger attention spans. Tickets are $18 per person, or $30 if you're interested in attending both performances in the Children's Saturday Matinee series (the second features Pilobolus on July 25). The performance is recommended for ages 3 and up. After the show ends, stick around for a free Kids Party in the Bryan Center lobby. Your children can enjoy snacks, participate in fun activities, and even meet the dancers themselves—a special touch that makes the experience feel personal and memorable. Tickets are available through Duke University's Box Office. This is a great opportunity to expose young kids to professional dance and live music in an environment designed with their interests in mind.
