Art on the Dot

Interactive art activity for kids at NC Museum of Art.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's guided tour experience designed for visitors who want an introduction to the collection without a long time commitment. A museum docent leads small groups through three artworks over the course of 30 minutes, offering insight and encouraging visitors to engage with each piece. The program runs in three consecutive rounds throughout the afternoon, with a 15-minute break between sessions, so families can participate in one round or stay for multiple tours to discover different selections. This is a great option for families with younger children, busy schedules, or anyone new to museum visits. General admission is free, and no registration is required—just arrive during the program window and join a tour. It's a wonderful way to experience art together without feeling rushed, and you might be inspired to return another weekend to see what artworks the next docent has chosen to highlight.
