Art on the Dot
Interactive art activity at NC Museum of Art.
Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's approachable take on guided museum exploration. A docent leads small groups through focused discussions of about three artworks, keeping each session to just 30 minutes—perfect for families with younger children or anyone who prefers a more digestible art experience. The museum runs three back-to-back rounds on weekend afternoons, with a 15-minute break between each, so you can join one tour or stay for multiple rounds depending on your family's energy level and interests.
Best of all, Art on the Dot is completely free with general admission. There's no need to register ahead—just show up at the West Building ready to explore. Since the tours rotate which artworks are featured each weekend, families can return to discover new pieces and perspectives with different docents leading the way.
