Art on the Dot

Interactive art activity at NC Museum of Art.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's approachable tour program designed for visitors who want a lighter introduction to the galleries. A museum guide leads small groups through focused conversations about three carefully selected artworks, spending about 30 minutes together. These intimate tours happen on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with three rounds offered each day—a 2:30 pm session kicks things off, followed by two additional tours with short breaks in between. You're welcome to join just one round or stay longer to experience multiple tours throughout the afternoon. This free program works well for families, art beginners, and anyone looking to deepen their museum experience without committing to a lengthy visit. Since the tours are brief and concentrated on just a handful of pieces, kids and adults can engage meaningfully without feeling overwhelmed. Best of all, there's no registration required—just show up at the West Building and join in. It's a great way to discover what speaks to you and revisit on another weekend to see which new artworks the next docent has chosen to highlight.
