Art on the Dot

Interactive art program at NC Museum of Art's West Building exploring creativity through hands-on discovery.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's casual approach to exploring artwork with your family. A museum docent leads small groups through three different artworks in just 30 minutes, making it perfect for families who want a focused museum experience without a lengthy time commitment. General admission is free, so you only need to show up during the event window. The museum runs three back-to-back rounds of these short tours throughout the afternoon, with a 15-minute break between each session. You're welcome to join one round or stick around for multiple tours to see what different docents have selected. Since the featured artworks change each weekend, it's worth returning to discover new pieces. This is an excellent option if your kids are new to museums or if you're looking for an activity that fits into a busy weekend schedule.
