Art on the Dot

Interactive art activity for kids at NC Museum of Art.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's casual approach to exploring art as a family. A museum docent leads small groups through focused 30-minute tours, diving into just three artworks each session. This keeps things manageable for younger attention spans while still offering meaningful conversation and discovery. The tours happen in back-to-back rounds on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with 15-minute breaks between each one, so you can join multiple sessions if your family wants to stick around and see more. Best of all, Art on the Dot is completely free with general admission. You can drop in without advance registration—just show up and join whichever round works for your schedule. Whether your kids are just starting to enjoy museums or already love talking about art, these bite-size experiences make it easy to fit culture into your weekend without the commitment of a longer program.
