Art on the Dot

Interactive art activity for kids at the NC Museum of Art.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's compact tour experience designed to give families a focused look at just a few carefully selected artworks. A museum docent leads visitors through approximately three pieces of art in a relaxed 30-minute format, making it perfect for families with younger children or anyone who prefers a more intimate museum visit. General admission is free, so you only need to show up during the program window. On Saturdays and Sundays, the museum runs three consecutive tour rounds, each lasting 30 minutes with a 15-minute break in between. You're welcome to join one round or stick around for multiple tours to see what different docents have chosen to highlight. It's a great way to explore the museum without feeling rushed, and you might discover something new each time you visit as the featured artworks change with each docent's selections.
