Art on the Dot

Interactive art activity for kids at NC Museum of Art's West Building.

Art on the Dot offers families a flexible way to explore the museum's collections without a big time commitment. A museum guide leads small groups through focused tours that last about 30 minutes each, featuring roughly three artworks per tour. You can drop in starting at 2:30 pm and join whichever round works for your family's schedule—the museum runs three back-to-back sessions with short breaks between them, so you're welcome to experience one tour, multiple tours, or come back another weekend to see what new pieces are featured. The best part? General admission is free, making this a budget-friendly Saturday or Sunday activity. These bite-size experiences work especially well for families with younger children or anyone who prefers a shorter museum visit. Since tours run regularly on weekends, you can plan your visit without advance registration and simply arrive when it's convenient for you.
