Art on the Dot

Creative art activity for kids at NC Museum of Art's West Building.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's accessible introduction to guided looking. A docent leads small groups through focused conversations about three artworks, spending about 30 minutes together. It's a relaxed way to explore the collection without the commitment of a longer tour—perfect for families who want a taste of expert perspective without overwhelming younger visitors or those new to museum experiences. The program runs in three consecutive rounds on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with a 15-minute break between each session, so you're welcome to join one round or stay for multiple. General admission is free, and the format works well for curious kids and adults alike. Just show up at the West Building and join in—no registration needed.
