Books and Badges
Meet local law enforcement and explore books about community heroes.
Books and Badges brings together two things kids love: stories and community helpers. Local police officers visit the Main Library once a month to read aloud from their favorite children's books in an intimate, 30-minute session. Your family can choose between two time slots to fit your schedule, and each session keeps things cozy with a maximum of six children. When you arrive, just check in at the children's desk to get started.
After storytime wraps up, there's a question-and-answer time where kids can learn firsthand what police work looks like in Hillsborough. It's a wonderful way for children to connect with their community, hear great stories, and feel comfortable around local helpers. Parents can participate in the reading or stay nearby during the program. Registration is required for each child attending, so be sure to sign up in advance.
