Dino Dig Live

Dino Dig Live

Hands-on dinosaur excavation activity at Nature Research Center.

Your family gets a front-row seat to real paleontology this summer. Watch as scientists from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences conduct live fossil digs from quarries across the American West—from Nebraska to Utah and beyond. This half-hour program takes place in the SECU Daily Planet Theater, where you can see the action unfold and ask questions directly to the paleontologists working in the field. It's a chance to experience actual dinosaur research as it happens, learning what these experts discover about ancient life from millions of years ago. You can attend in person at the theater or tune in via YouTube Live from home—whichever works best for your schedule. This is a walk-up program with no registration required, making it easy to drop in. Best for kids and families curious about paleontology, fossils, and what scientists really do. The museum offers this live expedition experience weekly throughout the summer, so if you miss this date, other opportunities are available.
