Dueling Dinosaurs Sensory Friendly Mornings
Sensory-friendly dinosaur exhibit mornings at NC Museum of Natural Sciences—calm environment for all learners.
This special morning session lets families explore the Dueling Dinosaurs exhibit in a calmer environment with reduced sound effects and fewer visitors. It's designed with sensory needs in mind—bring your own noise-reducing headphones and fidget tools, or borrow equipment at the exhibit entrance. A limited supply of sensory-friendly bags is also available to check out at the front desk. The experience works best for neurodivergent visitors and welcomes all ages, though children need an adult with them.
The visit is self-guided, so you move through the exhibit at your own pace. You'll have the chance to connect with researchers in the SECU DinoLab if you'd like. While registration isn't required, signing up is encouraged—it gets you reminder emails and advance information about what to expect. Have questions? The museum's Accessibility Coordinator can help with any special needs or concerns before your visit.
