Dueling Dinosaurs Sensory Friendly Mornings

Sensory-friendly dinosaur exhibit mornings at NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

This is a specialized morning session designed for families seeking a calmer museum experience. The Dueling Dinosaurs exhibit opens with reduced sound levels and fewer visitors, creating a more comfortable environment for children who are sensitive to noise or crowds. You're welcome to bring your own noise-reducing headphones and fidget tools, and the museum also has a limited supply of both items available to borrow or check out at no extra cost. The experience is self-guided, so you'll move through the exhibit at your own pace. There's an option to interact with the research team in the SECU DinoLab if you'd like. While registration is free and optional, the museum encourages it—registered families receive reminder emails and advance information about the exhibit. This program welcomes children of all ages, particularly those who are neurodivergent, though kids must be accompanied by adults throughout. For accessibility questions or specific needs, you can reach out to the Coordinator of Accessibility.
