Dueling Dinosaurs Sensory Friendly Mornings

Sensory-friendly dinosaur exhibit at NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

This special morning session lets families explore the Dueling Dinosaurs exhibit in a calmer environment with reduced sound and fewer visitors. It's designed with sensory sensitivities in mind, so you're welcome to bring your own noise-reducing headphones and fidget tools. The museum provides a limited number of sensory-friendly bags available at the front desk, plus a few extra pairs of noise-reducing headphones to borrow right at the exhibit itself. The experience is self-guided, giving you flexibility to move through the space at your own pace—though you'll have the chance to chat with the research team in the SECU DinoLab if you'd like. While registration is free and optional, signing up is encouraged so you'll receive reminder emails and helpful information about what to expect before your visit. This program welcomes all ages and is especially suited for neurodivergent visitors; children must be accompanied by an adult. For accessibility questions, you can reach out to the museum's Accessibility Coordinator.
