Family Nature Walks

Learn to identify native spiders on a guided nature walk from Chapel Hill Library.

Join us for a guided nature walk through Pritchard Park, where your family can discover the spiders and other wildlife that call our area home. Led by an education specialist, you'll stroll along paved and natural trails at a relaxed pace, stopping to observe and learn about the plants and animals you encounter. This program is designed for children in grades K–8 and works best when kids come with an adult companion. The main focus is on our native spider species—you'll learn how to identify different types and might spot some in their natural habitat. This is a great way to build curiosity about local wildlife and help kids feel more comfortable around creatures they might otherwise find scary. Registration is required to attend, and the program currently has a full capacity with a waitlist available.
