Festival of Fabulous Mums: Growing Fabulous Mums with Joan Matthews
Free gardening workshops at Duke Gardens teach families how to grow beautiful chrysanthemums.
Join Joan Matthews, an experienced chrysanthemum grower and National Chrysanthemum Society judge, for a free workshop on cultivating these stunning flowers. You'll examine chrysanthemums at different stages of growth and learn the fundamentals of growing them successfully—including details about the 13 different classes of mums, where to source plants, and their specific needs for soil, light, water, and fertilizer. By the end of the session, you'll have the knowledge to start growing these blooms in your own garden.
This free demonstration takes place at Duke Gardens with no registration required—just arrive early for a good seat, as spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open 15 minutes before the start time. It's a great opportunity for anyone curious about gardening or interested in learning more about chrysanthemums from someone genuinely knowledgeable about the subject.
