Garden Club for Kids @ Southwest
Kids ages 7–12 join a monthly Garden Club at Southwest Library to plant, learn, and explore the backyard garden.
If your kids enjoy getting their hands dirty and learning about plants, Southwest's Garden Club offers a monthly gathering for young gardeners ages 7–12. During each session, children explore the library's backyard garden, discussing gardening basics, planting seeds and seedlings, and tackling hands-on garden tasks. As the season progresses into mid-summer, the group harvests fresh vegetables and herbs to taste together. Participants can take home seeds and seedlings to continue their gardening adventures at home. Caregivers are welcome to attend alongside their children.
Since this is an outdoor program, plan to dress comfortably and bring water and sunscreen—the program will be canceled in rain. Registration is required, with limited spots available each month. Seeds and seedlings are provided as part of the activity. If you have questions about accessibility or need disability accommodations, the library can help—just call (919) 560-8592.
