Improv 1: Let's Play! — Beginner Improv Course (Raleigh)
Ready to try something new without the pressure? This six-week beginner improv course welcomes everyone, whether you've performed before or never stepped foot on a stage. Led by instructor Jill Eickmann, the classes focus on games and exercises that build spontaneity, collaboration, and trust—not on being the funniest person in the room. You'll spend each Wednesday evening with a small group, learning in a supportive environment where showing up as yourself is exactly what's needed.
What makes this special is the low-stakes atmosphere. There are no scripts, auditions, or performance expectations. Most people arrive alone and leave with new friends and plenty of laughs. Each class builds naturally on the last one, so don't worry if you're nervous the first night—that's completely normal and passes quickly. The course runs six weeks on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30 PM. Free street parking is available nearby, and the theater is located on North Boylan Avenue in Raleigh. If you'd like to know more before signing up, reach out to Leela directly through their website or email.
