Incredible Science

Hands-on science activities at NC Museum of Natural Sciences downtown.

Your family can dive into 30 minutes of hands-on science exploration at this walk-up program. Each session features live experiments and demonstrations that shift daily—you might see physics and chemistry in action through topics like inertia, buoyancy, or electromagnetism. Other times, the focus turns to nature itself: discover what makes beaver teeth so incredible or explore the surprising strength and design of bird eggs. It's the kind of program where curiosity gets rewarded with real, visible science happening right before your eyes. This event works best for kids ages 7 and up, though younger siblings are welcome to tag along. No advance sign-up is needed—just show up during the scheduled time at Windows on the World (third floor of the Nature Exploration Center). The program runs multiple days each week at 1:30 p.m. on weekdays and 12:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. on Saturdays, and admission is completely free with general museum entry.
