Kids Chess Club
Friendly chess club for kids of all skill levels at Chapel Hill Public Library.
Your child is invited to join our casual chess club at the library, where players of different abilities gather for friendly matches and open play. Whether your young person is just learning the basics or has been playing for a while, there's a place at the board. Keep in mind that this isn't a lesson-based program—participants should already understand how the pieces move and basic game rules before joining.
The club meets regularly throughout the fall, giving kids a chance to practice their skills, meet other players, and enjoy some focused time with the game. It's a relaxed, welcoming environment perfect for kids who want to play without the pressure of competition or formal instruction. The library may photograph or video participants during the event, so families should be aware of that possibility.
