Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Watch a live lobster feeding demonstration at NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Watch staff members feed a live Maine lobster during this short, hands-on program at the Arthropod Zoo. You'll get to meet the Living Collections team and learn fascinating facts about these remarkable creatures. Lobsters are known for their aggressive personality and impressive claws, plus they have a specially adapted exoskeleton that's reinforced with minerals like calcium to protect them in their ocean habitat. This is a walk-up program, so no advance registration is needed—just show up and watch. The 15-minute session is perfect for families with children of any age, as well as teens and adults curious about marine life. Best of all, it's completely free. The program runs on select days throughout the week at the same time, giving you flexibility in planning your visit.
