Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Watch live lobster feeding at NC Museum of Natural Sciences' Downtown Raleigh location.

Watch as staff members feed a live Maine lobster during this short, hands-on program at the Arthropod Zoo. You'll get to meet the Living Collections team and learn about these fascinating creatures up close. The lobster's impressive claws and tough exoskeleton are built to survive in the ocean—staff will explain how crustaceans strengthen their shells by incorporating minerals like lime into them. This is a walk-up program, so no advance registration is needed. It's a quick 15-minute experience that works well for families with children of all ages, as well as teens and adults. The program is completely free and happens regularly on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons, making it easy to fit into your visit to the museum.
