Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Watch live lobster feeding demonstration at NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Watch staff members feed a live Maine lobster during this quick hands-on program at the Arthropod Zoo. You'll get to see this impressive creature up close and learn fascinating facts about how lobsters protect themselves. Their tough exoskeletons are reinforced with minerals like lime, making them remarkably durable armor. Staff members will be on hand to answer questions and share more about these feisty crustaceans. This is a walk-up program, so no registration or tickets are needed—just show up and enjoy. The 15-minute session works well for families with kids of all ages and anyone curious about ocean animals. Best of all, it's completely free. The program runs regularly on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons at the same time, so if you can't make this date, you have other opportunities to catch the feeding.
