Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Watch live animal feeding demonstrations at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Watch as staff members feed a live Maine lobster during this short, hands-on program at the Arthropod Zoo. You'll get to meet the Living Collections team and learn fascinating facts about these remarkable creatures. Lobsters are powerful animals with tough exoskeletons that protect them, and you'll discover how crustaceans strengthen their shells by incorporating minerals like lime into their outer armor. This is a walk-up program, so no advance registration is needed—just show up and enjoy. The 15-minute program is free for all ages and works well whether you're visiting with young children, teens, or the whole family. It's a great way to get up close with an amazing ocean animal and chat with the experts who care for them.
