Live Animal Feeding: Lobster
Watch live animal feeding and learn about lobsters at the science museum.
Watch staff feed a Maine lobster during this short, hands-on program at the Arthropod Zoo. You'll get to observe these fascinating creatures up close and learn directly from the Living Collections team. Lobsters are impressive animals—their tough exoskeletons are reinforced with minerals like lime, making them well-built survivors in the ocean. It's a great chance to see these clawed crustaceans in action and discover what makes them so formidable.
This is a walk-up program, so no advance registration is needed. Just show up during the scheduled time and head to the Arthropod Zoo on the 4th floor of the Nature Exploration Center. The program runs for about 15 minutes, making it perfect for families who want to squeeze in an educational activity without a big time commitment. Best of all, it's completely free. The program happens regularly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, so you have flexibility in choosing when to visit.
