Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Watch museum staff feed a live Maine lobster during this short, hands-on program at the Arthropod Zoo. You'll get to meet the Living Collections team and learn fascinating facts about these impressive creatures. Lobsters are known for their fierce personalities and powerful claws, and their tough outer shells—called exoskeletons—are reinforced with minerals like lime to help them survive in their ocean habitat. This is a casual, walk-up program perfect for families with children of any age, as well as teens and adults interested in learning more about marine life. The 15-minute session is completely free to attend. No advance registration is needed—just show up and enjoy! The program takes place on the fourth floor of the Nature Exploration Center in the Arthropod Zoo area.
