Meet the Keepers
Meet the gardeners of Duke Gardens' Discovery Garden—beekeepers, chicken caretakers, and plant experts.
Join the gardeners at the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden for an informal chance to connect with the people who care for this special space. You'll meet the horticulture staff and volunteers who tend the bees, chickens, and edible plants throughout the garden. It's a relaxed drop-in format where you can ask questions about what they're doing and learn about the garden's living systems. The activity welcomes families of all ages, though children must have an adult with them.
This free program requires no advance sign-up, making it easy to add to your gardens visit. Just look for staff wearing Duke Gardens shirts and strike up a conversation. Keep in mind that the Discovery Garden involves walking on both paved and unpaved paths with some uneven ground and gentle slopes. Parking fees apply at Duke Gardens. If you have questions beforehand, reach out to GardensEducation@duke.edu or call 919-668-1701.
