Meet the Keepers

Meet the bees, chickens & plants in Duke Gardens' Discovery Garden.

Your family is invited to spend time with the dedicated people who care for the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden. During this drop-in session, you'll have the chance to chat with horticulture staff and volunteers (look for their Duke Gardens shirts) as they tend to the bees, chickens, and edible plants that make this garden special. It's a relaxed way to learn what goes on behind the scenes and ask questions about the work they do. The activity welcomes all ages, though children must have an adult with them. This free program requires no advance sign-up—just show up during the scheduled time. Keep in mind that the garden features a mix of paved and unpaved paths with some hills and uneven ground, so wear appropriate footwear. Parking is available on-site for a fee. If you have accessibility questions or need more information, reach out to the gardens team at 919-668-1701 or GardensEducation@duke.edu.
