Meet the Keepers

Meet the keepers caring for bees, chickens & edible plants at Duke Gardens' Discovery Garden.

Your family is invited to spend time in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden learning directly from the people who care for this space. You'll have the chance to chat with horticulture staff and volunteers—identifiable by their Duke Gardens shirts—as they tend to the bees, chickens, and edible plants throughout the garden. It's a casual, drop-in experience designed for curious minds of all ages, making it easy to pop in whenever works best for your family. This free activity requires no advance registration, though do note that parking fees apply. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Keep in mind the garden features a mix of paved and unpaved paths with some uneven ground and gentle hills, so wear appropriate footwear. For accessibility questions or other details, reach out to the gardens at 919-668-1701 or GardensEducation@duke.edu.
