Meet the Keepers
Meet the keepers of bees, chickens & edible gardens at Duke Gardens.
Your family is invited to visit the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden and connect with the people who care for this special space. During this drop-in activity, you'll meet the horticulture staff and volunteers—they'll be easy to spot in their Duke Gardens shirts—and can ask them about the work they do tending to the bees, chickens, and edible plants throughout the garden. It's a relaxed opportunity for curious learners of any age to see behind the scenes and learn directly from the experts.
This free program requires no advance registration, making it simple to work into your visit. Just note that children must have an adult accompanying them. The garden features a mix of paved and unpaved paths with some uneven surfaces and gentle hills, so consider your family's comfort with outdoor terrain. Parking at Duke Gardens does have a fee. If you have questions before your visit, reach out to the gardens' education team at 919-668-1701 or GardensEducation@duke.edu.
