Meet the Keepers

Meet beekeepers and care for chickens and edible plants at Duke Gardens.

Stop by the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden to chat with the gardeners who care for the bees, chickens, and edible plants in this space. You'll spot the horticulture staff and volunteers by their Duke Gardens shirts, and they're happy to answer questions about what they're doing. This is a relaxed, drop-in activity that welcomes families with children of any age—just note that kids need an adult with them. There's no cost and no need to sign up ahead of time. Keep in mind that the garden involves walking on a mix of paved and unpaved paths with some uneven ground and gentle slopes. Parking fees do apply. If you have questions before your visit, reach out to the gardens team at 919-668-1701 or GardensEducation@duke.edu.
