Meet the Keepers

Meet bees, chickens & learn about edible plants at Duke Gardens' Discovery Garden.

Your family is invited to visit the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden to chat with the people who care for the bees, chickens, and edible plants thriving there. You'll spot the horticulture staff and volunteers wearing Duke Gardens shirts—they're happy to answer your questions about what they're doing and share what makes this garden special. It's a relaxed, drop-in experience suited for all ages, though children must have an adult with them. There's no cost to attend and no need to register ahead of time. Just show up during the scheduled hour. Keep in mind that the garden features a mix of paved and unpaved paths with some uneven ground and gentle slopes, so wear appropriate footwear. Parking at Duke Gardens does have a fee. If you have questions before your visit, reach out to the gardens education team at 919-668-1701 or GardensEducation@duke.edu.
