Myths and Minibeasts: Beetles

Virtual science adventure exploring beetle myths and facts at NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Beetles show up all around us, yet most of us know surprisingly little about them—or the fascinating stories different cultures have told about them over the centuries. This virtual program explores the mythology surrounding beetles across ancient civilizations, from beliefs that they could influence the sun to tales of their destructive power. You'll also learn about beetle species that are likely living right in your own neighborhood. Designed for ages 12 and up, this session offers a fun blend of folklore and real-world nature education. It's a great choice if your family enjoys discovering unexpected connections between history, culture, and the natural world around them. The program runs about an hour and takes place online, making it easy to join from home.
