Open Maker Session at the Makery at Boxyard RTP (Ages 6+)
Open maker sessions for kids 6+ to build, create, and tinker at a dedicated maker space.
The Makery at Boxyard RTP is a creative space designed for kids ages 6 and up, as well as teens and adults. During open maker sessions, visitors get hands-on time exploring projects in a supportive environment where all materials are provided. Staff members are on hand to help with tools, setup, and brainstorming, so whether your child is brand new to making or has done this before, they'll have guidance available. The space prioritizes safety and inclusivity for all visitors.
Here's what to know before you go: children under 14 need an adult companion, but teens ages 14–17 can attend independently if a parent or guardian completes a waiver beforehand. Sessions run in two blocks on the day you're planning to visit, so you can choose the time that works best for your family. Admission is $10–$20 per person, and you'll need to register in advance through their ticketing link. This is a great option if your family enjoys creative, hands-on activities in a structured but open-ended setting.
