Open Maker Session at the Makery at Boxyard RTP (Ages 6+)

Open maker sessions at Boxyard RTP—hands-on building and creating for kids ages 6+.

The Makery at Boxyard RTP is a creative space where kids ages 6 and up can explore hands-on making projects alongside tweens, teens, and adults. During open sessions, visitors work on maker projects with all materials supplied—you just bring your imagination and curiosity. Trained staff members are on hand to help with tools, setup, and ideas, so whether your child is a first-timer or experienced maker, there's support available. The space is kept clean, well-equipped, and welcoming for all skill levels. This particular session runs across two time blocks: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., so you can pick whichever fits your schedule better. Children under 14 need an adult with them, while teens ages 14–17 can attend on their own if a legal guardian completes a waiver beforehand. Admission is $10–$20 per person, and you'll need to register in advance. Tickets are available through the NC Children's Museum website.
