Open Maker Session at the Makery at Boxyard RTP (Ages 6+)

Open maker sessions for kids 6+ at the Makery—hands-on creativity and making for upper elementary through teens.

The Makery at Boxyard RTP offers open-ended creative time for kids and families who want to explore hands-on projects in a dedicated maker space. During these sessions, children ages 6 and up (along with teens and adults) have access to tools and materials to bring their own ideas to life. The staff is on hand to offer guidance with equipment, setup, and brainstorming, so whether your child arrives with a specific project in mind or wants to discover what sparks their interest, there's support available. Safety and inclusivity are priorities here, with a well-maintained space designed for everyone. A few things to know before you go: kids under 14 need an adult companion, while teens 14 and older can attend independently (though they'll need a signed waiver from a parent or guardian first). All materials are provided, so you're not bringing supplies from home. Sessions run in two time blocks—morning (11 a.m.–2 p.m.) and evening (3–7 p.m.)—giving you flexibility to choose what works for your schedule. Admission is $10–$20 per person, and you'll need to register in advance online.
