Public Tour

This free guided experience takes you through the People's Collection at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Your docent will lead a 50-minute tour showcasing thousands of years of artwork and cultural artifacts. What you'll encounter depends on the day—guides might explore multiple galleries, highlight specific artists, or teach you about the foundations of art itself. It's a wonderful way to kick off your first museum visit, or a nice activity to enjoy after grabbing lunch at the café. Families of all ages are welcome to join in. Simply meet your assigned docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive. Keep in mind that tours vary based on which docent is available that day, so each experience will be a little different. Best of all, there's no admission fee to participate. This is a casual, educational way to explore what the museum has to offer.
