Public Tour

This guided experience offers families a chance to explore the North Carolina Museum of Art's People's Collection with a trained docent. The 50-minute tour works wonderfully as an introduction to the museum, a nice activity after grabbing lunch at the café, or an opportunity to discover the 5,000+ years of art and culture on display. What makes these tours special is their flexibility—your guide might lead you through multiple galleries, focus on particular artists, or teach the fundamentals of how art is created and composed. Since tours vary based on docent availability, each visit offers something a little different. Everyone is welcome to join, from curious toddlers to grandparents. Simply arrive at the West Building and meet your docent at the public tour sign. Best of all, admission is completely free, making it an easy, enriching outing for the whole family.
