Public Tour
Guided tour of the NC Museum of Art's West Building.
The North Carolina Museum of Art is hosting a guided tour perfect for families wanting to explore the collections together. A museum docent will lead a 50-minute walk through galleries in the West Building, sharing insights about the artworks and cultural artifacts on display. Depending on the docent leading the tour, your group might visit several different galleries, focus on works by particular artists, or learn about the basic principles of art itself. This is an ideal outing for a first museum visit, a nice activity to pair with lunch at the café, or simply a chance to discover some of the 5,000+ years of art represented here.
Best of all, admission is completely free, and children of all ages are welcome to join. Just plan to meet your docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive. Since tours vary based on which docent is available on any given day, you'll have a slightly different experience each time you visit. No registration is required—just show up and find the tour sign to get started.
