Public Tour

Join a free guided tour of the North Carolina Museum of Art's People's Collection! A museum educator will lead your family through galleries for about 50 minutes, sharing insights about the thousands of years of art and culture on display. Depending on the docent leading the tour, you might explore multiple galleries, learn about specific artists, or discover the basic principles behind creating art. These tours work wonderfully whether you're visiting for the first time, need a break after grabbing lunch at the café, or just want to deepen your appreciation for the collection. Everyone is welcome to participate, from young children to adults. Simply meet your docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive. Keep in mind that the specific focus and galleries covered can vary based on which docent is available that day, so each tour offers a slightly different experience. It's a terrific way to get the most out of your museum visit at no extra cost.
