Public Tour

Guided tour of the NC Museum of Art's West Building.

Join a guided exploration of the North Carolina Museum of Art's extensive collection during this hour-long tour. A museum educator will lead your group through the galleries, spending about 50 minutes discovering thousands of years of art and cultural artifacts. Depending on the docent leading that day, your tour might focus on specific artists, particular galleries, or the basic principles of what makes art meaningful. Every tour is unique, so you might see something different than another group visiting on another day. This is a wonderful option for families experiencing the museum for the first time, or a nice way to spend an hour if you're already planning to visit. All ages can participate, and admission is completely free—you just need to meet your docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive. No advance registration is required, though keep in mind that tour availability depends on docent scheduling, so what's offered may vary from visit to visit.
