Public Tour

Bring your family for a guided exploration of the North Carolina Museum of Art's West Building. A museum educator will lead a 50-minute tour through galleries showcasing thousands of years of art and culture. Depending on your guide's focus that day, you might explore multiple galleries, learn about specific artists, or discover the fundamentals of how art is made. This works wonderfully as a first-time visit introduction, a post-lunch activity, or simply to satisfy curiosity about what's on display. All ages are welcome to join, and admission is free. Just meet your docent at the public tour sign in the West Building when you arrive. Keep in mind that tours vary based on which docent is available, so each visit offers a different experience. It's a relaxed way to get oriented at the museum and learn from someone who knows the collections well.
