Reading Our NC Stories

Reading Our NC Stories is a community literary event where locals share short works that explore North Carolina's history and culture. Participants will hear selections from Wax2, the library's literary magazine for adults, featuring pieces submitted by community members. The readings tie into the state's America 250 celebration and PBS North Carolina's Homegrown History initiative. If you're interested in participating, you're welcome to bring your own short story set in North Carolina to read aloud, or share a piece by another author that resonates with you. The library is also looking for volunteers to read submissions from people unable to attend. This is an adult-focused event, and while registration is encouraged, it's not required. It's part of the library's larger Artember program, which showcases community creativity throughout September.
