Roots of Discovery: Festival of Lights

Light up the season at this outdoor festival celebrating discovery and nature.

Dive into the vibrant world of Indian culture and science at this free family celebration. You'll explore how ancient Indian discoveries in astronomy, mathematics, and medicine shaped our modern understanding of the world. Through hands-on activities and presentations, learn about everything from bioluminescence in nature to the origins of yoga, the artistry of Indian dance, and the global sport of cricket. There's also a chance to discover the centuries-old tradition of henna art and see how these cultural practices connect to science and creativity. The day features multiple activities happening simultaneously, so families can pick and choose what interests them most. A special presentation on India's contributions to global science runs from 1:00–1:30 pm in the theater, featuring a speaker with expertise in pharmaceutical sciences. Whether your kids are curious about nature, interested in movement and dance, or want to learn about different cultures, there's something engaging for various ages and interests. Best of all, admission is completely free.
