Steam Shop Saturday at New Hope Valley Railway ⭐️

Behind-the-scenes railroad experience learning how steam locomotives operate.

Ever wondered how steam locomotives actually work? This is your chance to find out! Spend the morning in the railyard with the Steam Crew, who'll share stories about their work, demonstrate what they do, and answer questions about operating a steam engine. Two train rides are scheduled—one at 10:30 a.m. and another at 12:00 p.m.—giving you multiple opportunities to hop aboard and chat with the crew. Note that while the historic #17 locomotive is undergoing restoration, the rides will be powered by one of the railway's diesel engines instead. The event welcomes all ages and is priced affordably: adults are $16.45, seniors (60+) are $15.37, children ages 2–12 are $13.20, and children under 2 ride free. All ticket revenue goes toward restoring locomotive #17. Grab your tickets ahead of time through TriangleTrain.com. This is a rare chance to get behind the scenes and learn about steam railroading from the people who know it best.
