**Tales & Tails** Is your child a reluctant reader who might benefit from a more comfortable setting to practice reading aloud? This program pairs young readers with trained therapy dogs in a relaxed, judgment-free environment at the library. Children who feel nervous or self-conscious reading in front of peers often thrive when given the chance to read one-on-one with a calm, attentive dog. The experience builds reading confidence and helps develop fluency skills naturally. Each child who registers receives a 15-minute individual time slot with one of two therapy dogs: Magnolia, a younger dog still learning her skills, or Izzy, a gentle Bernese Mountain Dog known for her calm and affectionate nature. The program is designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Registration is required and closes on September 4, so plan ahead if you'd like your child to participate. Note that photos may be taken during the event for library promotion—just let staff know if you prefer your family not to be photographed.
