Tree Walk with a Naturalist
Guided nature walk with expert naturalist at Prairie Ridge.
Join a guided exploration of the Jesse P. Perry III Arboretum on a moderately paced hike covering 1 to 2 miles. A naturalist will teach you and your group the fundamentals of identifying trees native to our area, highlighting ten different species during the outing. This program is designed for ages 12 and up, making it a great way for older kids and teens to connect with nature and develop real outdoor skills.
Beyond tree identification, you'll learn about Nature's Notebook, a citizen science initiative where participants can contribute to actual research by documenting plant and animal life cycles throughout the year. Registration is required for all Prairie Ridge programs, so be sure to sign up in advance. This is a wonderful opportunity for families looking to spend quality time outdoors while supporting local conservation efforts.
