What’s in the Box?

Interactive discovery activity at NC Museum of Art—peek inside mystery boxes.

What's in the Box? is a morning program designed for the youngest museum visitors—kids ages 3 to 5—and their adults. During this one-hour session, families will explore artworks in the Museum galleries, participate in movement activities, and create their own art projects in the studios. The experience weaves together storytelling, hands-on creation, and playful exploration to help children make meaningful connections with art. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for Museum members. Younger siblings under 3 and accompanying adults get in free. This is a great option if you're looking for a structured, age-appropriate activity that encourages creativity and early exposure to art in a welcoming museum setting.
