Art on the Dot

Interactive art activity for kids at NC Museum of Art.

Art on the Dot is the North Carolina Museum of Art's compact tour program, perfect for families who want an introduction to the collection without a lengthy commitment. A museum docent guides small groups through about three carefully selected artworks, spending roughly 30 minutes together. These tours happen on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with three separate rounds offered each day and a 15-minute break between sessions. You're welcome to join one tour, hop between multiple rounds, or return another weekend to see what new pieces the next docent has chosen to highlight. Best of all, admission is completely free. There's no need to register in advance—just show up during the scheduled time at the West Building. Whether your children are art enthusiasts or newcomers to the museum, this format makes it easy to explore without overwhelming younger visitors or requiring a big time commitment from your family.
