Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Live Animal Feeding: Lobster

Watch a live lobster feeding demonstration at NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Your child will get to watch a live Maine lobster being fed while chatting with the museum's Living Collections staff. It's a short but engaging program held in the Arthropod Zoo on the 4th floor. You'll learn fascinating details about how these clawed crustaceans are built to survive—including how they use minerals like lime to strengthen their tough outer shells. Since this is a walk-up program with no registration required, you can simply show up and join in. This free 15-minute experience works well for families with kids of any age who are curious about sea creatures and how animals eat. It happens regularly on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons, making it easy to fit into your weekend plans. Just head to the Nature Exploration Center in downtown Raleigh and find your way to the Arthropod Zoo.
